Are you qualified to discuss reform policy?

How will Arizona get enough law-enforcement officials to man its new-formed Border Patrol? I'll tell you -- they recruit young men from all over the country to carry tasers and check people's IDs.

For your information, you would be safe in Arizona. Italian/Black/Mixed/Latino-a/South or Central American. Those people, legal or no, will be paranoid or even scared to walk to streets. I personally would be absolutely aware at all times that if some 26-year-old asshole doesn't like my face. I rarely carry my ID. Could I be thrown in jail for 36 hours?

That's fear. People of color are watchful in general of police, who if you might recall, shot Black women and men in New York City for being uppity. Many of those who spoke out against police brutality were thrown in jail. Only now are they being released from 40 years of prison.

Who's to say nothing like that will happen again? You looked at a summary of the reform policy. So what? Paper and ink behind closed-door meetings with paunchy, middle-aged and likely fed up politicians?

I'll tell you something. The paper and words don't consitute the law. The law is what wears the badge and carries the gun. And I know one fellow, who I know for a fact isn't fluent in Spanish, who has joined the border patrol. Suffice it to say, some new officers will be more...zealous than what is expected.

If I went to Arizona, I would get accosted, probably not exactly what one might call a friendly manner. Why? Because border police will become antagoinsts very quickly, mark my words. They couldn't stop police from murdering Black people in NYC, how will they stop people with no military experience from hitting EVERYONE HE SEES with the book? Likely the people who staff the border patrol won't all be hard-faced veterans, I can tell you that right now. A lot of them will be in their 20s and 30s.

They'll come from towns with a 2% to 8% population of Hispanic-Americans, if that. So how are they to know the difference? Will Hispanics and legal immigrants be denied being allowed to work for the border patrol? What then?

So I have friends who have mixed ancestry. Do you, in blue collar West Virginia, know any people who have one Black/Hispanic parent and one white parent? If one of the parents is an immigrant and their child was born in Arizona, that creates a divide between those who are immediately suspects.

A divide. A cultural rift that differentiates clearly brown-skinned people against Italian and Middle-Eastern, Asian, European and Asiatic immigrants. We have more to fear. Fear.

That's why people are so up in arms and offended by remarks from milk-fed white 20-somethings who haven't studied immigration low and policy for more that 45 minutes on MSN News.

Is there really any confusion as to what will result? Some facts I recognize.

Arizona school systems spend $2 billion educating the children of illegal immigrants.

There HAVE to be other, more discreet and non-invasive litmus tests for distinguishing illegal aliens and legitiment citizens.

And what jobs do they REALLY take from America? The neurosurgeon jobs? Are they threatening the Phoenix bar association's members? No, immigrants will take out your garbage, clean your pool, scrub your toilets, and pick some damn vegetables for 100 hours a week...for 50 cents less.

NAFTA is as much to blame for good jobs leaving this country than lax security is "taking" jobs from statesmen and lawyers.

How many border partol will be fluent in Spanish, and even other, less used indigenous languages?

Tell me. We are wimps. Correction: you have become wimps. Have you ever seen the kid's movie 'Night at the Museum?' Watch it and take a careful look at the little boy. Just do it. You'll understand. Tell me that's not happening in NY and Cali.

What about families who have sons and daughters who have been in the school system since preschool? Will their children be kept from school until is has been determined that their parents are there legally? Think of the ostricization and strife that will break up families.

That's a bit of long rambling, but I think I've covered a lot of ground. Skim through if you like.
